Yes. Rates differ between cities because of transport cost, local demand and the number of active buyers. Steel scrap in Mandi Gobindgarh, for example, often trades at a different rate than in Chennai. Use the city table to check your city.
Five things matter most: the metal and its grade, quality and purity, the quantity being sold, the buyer's location, and overall demand and supply. Higher grades, such as clean copper wire, always fetch more than mixed scrap.
All rates on this site are quoted in rupees per kilogram (₹/kg). To convert a rate to rupees per tonne, multiply by 1,000.
Use the scrap value calculator on this page. Select the metal, enter the weight in kilograms, and it multiplies the weight by today's average rate. The result is an estimate — a dealer's offer can differ by grade, purity and quantity.
Copper scrap has the highest per-kilogram value among common scrap metals, followed by brass and aluminium. Iron and steel scrap trade at much lower per-kilogram rates but usually move in larger volumes.
